• Recovery efforts in Fairdale have been slow-going -- in part because volunteers haven't been able to get into town. Residents were finally allowed back in their homes this weekend. But Route 72 remains blocked off -- as officials work to get power restored to the area. They plan to start hauling debris out of the area on Wednesday.  The cleanup is much further along in the Rochelle area -- where crews and volunteers have been working on site for days now.  A Multi-Agency Resource Center will open Wednesday in Rochelle as a place where all public and private disaster relief agencies come together to provide assistance to affected residents. The Multi-Agency Resource Center will open Wednesday at the Beacon on the Green on 7th Street in Rochelle.
  • A Rockford apartment complex in the 100 block of south Chicago Avenue is condemned after it partially collapses. The building's side and roof crumbled...with debris landing onto a garage next to it. It’s a four-family apartment complex, but luckily no one was at home at the time.
  • An anonymous tip leads to the arrest of 17-year old Derrick Gibson for his part in a Freeport shooting. Gibson is accused of shooting two people less than a week ago in the area of Prospect and Galena. Neither victim was seriously hurt.
  • The long running hearing by the Rockford Board of Fire and Police Commissioners into a complaint against Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson will continue Thursday morning beginning at 9 a.m.  Among those who may be called to testify is Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey, who said in an interview he had been subpoenaed and looked forward to testifying.
  • A local banker is appointed a spot in the Illinois Finance Authority by Governor Bruce Rauner.  Rob Funderburg is the chairman of Alpine Bank and Trust and chairman of Alpine Bancorporation, Inc. He’s also head of other family businesses.
