It has been two years since Fatty McGee's on East State Street in Rockford closed its doors for good. That is all about to change.

WIFR-TV is reporting that the new owners will soon breathe new life into the establishment and rename it Charlie's Pub and Eatery, if they get final approval for a liquor license from the city of Rockford and approval of parking plans from the county.

The building has been boarded up, and been an eyesore for since the place closed, due to fact that the previous owner of the bar, Gregory Allen Kowalski was charged with intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, along with possession of more than 200 cannabis sativa plants back in 2015. In addition, there were over 1100 marijuana plants discovered in the building.

We wish the new owners luck with their new business.
