Additional arrests now have been made in the wake of a string of recent carjackings in Rockford.

According to a press release, the Rockford Police Department and the Northern Illinois Auto Theft Task Force interviewed ten juveniles and one adult yesterday about the crimes. As a result one adult and six juveniles were taken into custody.

The adult, Michael D. Johnson, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The following is a list of charges for juveniles involved: probation violation, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

The arrests and charges follow a wild early Monday morning in Rockford that included multiple vehicles stolen at gunpoint and a massive search that involved a police helicopter. All the details on those crimes can be found here.
