Rockford Police are investigating an early morning shooting today that left one dead and five injured at the Clock Tower Resort, 7801 E. State St.

According to the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots fired just before 1 a.m. when they found a 23-year-old male dead of an apparent gunshot wound in the hallway of the resort. His name has not been released.

Police say five other people at the scene were taken to local hospital for injuries from gunshots. One of them is in critical condition. The other four victims are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.

Rockford police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute at a private party that was held at the resort.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which is still under investigation at this time.
